Every once in a while, we see a dress go “full-circle” here – one that was bought here and then donated back to be enjoyed again. Most importantly, it helps us understand what it means to our clientele, whether gown buyers, donors or both – to be a part of The Brides’ Project.
Here is Jennifer’s story:
I came across The Brides Project website, just by chance, while searching for local bridal shops. I had just started my search for the perfect dress for my wedding in Northern Ireland. To me, The Brides Project was an amazing idea – come to life. To possibly find a dress and support cancer charities at the same time, seems like the right thing to do as most of our lives have been touched by cancer in one way or another. My time shopping at The Brides Project was fun! I was free to try on dresses, my dress size was all in one room, and the volunteers were great help. Even though I have been to about 4 regular dress shops with a couple “maybe-dresses” in mind, I found 2 “yes-dresses” at The Brides Project! Does that EVER happen? …and did I mention these dresses are all very affordable? The volunteers even provided me with contacts for reasonable dry cleaning and a seamstress (who is quite the firecracker – Pom Penner!).
Shopping at The Brides Project was a great experience, especially after being to so many bridal shops and coming away disappointed and discouraged. When I purchased my dress from here, I came away excited and glowing because I not only found my dress but had contributed to this great organization!
What made my purchase even more important to me was that 5 mos. after our May wedding, my step-daughters mom lost her battle with cancer. On behalf of her sister and herself, my step daughter, Reannen, donated my dress back to The Brides Project in her mom’s memory and with the hope that one day a cure will be found.
Our most sincere thanks to Jennifer and Reannen for their kindness and generosity, and being a part of making a difference not just once, but twice over!
